Andy Warhol has been referred to as the ‘King of Pop’, and the ‘Prince of Pop’ by the media, and he has sure earned the acclaim. He was a World Famous American painter, publisher, filmmaker, actor, and not only a major figure in the Pop Art movement, but also one of the most celebrated artists of the twentieth century. Even though he died in 1987, that doesn’t mean that his art has died. You can find his artwork on handbags, shoes, plates, and now even area rugs.
The Andy Warhol Home Collection by Sphinx Rugs is made up of designs directly influenced by actual pieces of artwork by Andy. A portion of the proceeds from each rug designs goes to benefit the non-profit Andy Warhol Foundation. This helps fund art education and museum exhibitions for up and coming artists.
The Andy Warhol Home Collection is divided into four major categories: Pop Abstracts, Signature Series, Simply Andy, and the Factory Series. The Factory series is influenced by early textures and shadings of Warhol’s Factory period images. The Simply Andy collection is a sampling of his thousands of pencil drawings. The Signature Series is made up of Andy’s most known works of art from every part of his career. And the Pop Abstracts are contemporary and abstract designs from Andy’s Pop Art period.
So just because we may no longer have this Famous Artist here with us, doesn’t mean that we still can’t enjoy his work in every part of our lifestyles. Check out these and the many other area rugs by Andy Warhol at rugbin.com.
